Iceland has a large number of natural thermal springs due to its frequent use of geothermal energy. You can relax all day or all night in any of them, some of which are paid and some of which are free. Many locals and tourists prefer to visit a swimming pool, where they can enjoy a large pool at a reasonable price, as well as various types of whirlpools or saunas.
Whether you are doing your trip through the Golden circle or just staying in Reykholt in South Iceland, you can visit the local swimming pool and enjoy the relax as many Icelanders do for years.

Adress, location and contacts
The swimming pool in Reykholt is located very close to the main road crossing this little town. Whether you arrive to Reykholt from west or east, you just need to turn at the round about, where you see the restaurant Mika.
You turn the same way, as you want to drive to Mika restaurant, but not turn to the parking lot and just continue on this road and after few hundreds meters, you´ll get to small cross road. On the left you´ll see the greenhouse area, but you take the right turn and very soon see the fence of the pool and parking lot.

There are many options, if you want to visit swimming pool or some hot spring nearby Reykholt. The closest swimming pool is in Flúdir, another small town in Golden circle, which is about 15 minutes far away.
In the same village, you can find also very favourite hot springs Secret lagoon. It´s a very famous attraction for tourists, so the price for ticket there is more expensive. You can enjoy here the relax in one of the oldest swimming pool with geothermal heated water, use the local bar accessible just from the pool or explore the small geysirs around the lagoon.
Hrunalaug is another great spot, which you find not far away from Flúdir. You need to get there through the gravel road (the condition is fine, suitable even for 2WD cars) and the entrance cost almost the same as ticket to Reykholt´s pool.
In case, you are fan of the real swimming pools and the opening hours are not enough for you in this place, there is very nice swimming pool with few hot tubs, cold tubs and slides in Selfoss. The difference in price is not so big, the main minus is only the distance from Reykholt, which is 45 kms.
Laugarvatn Fontana geothermal baths is another touristy place, which you could visit if you want to enjoy the great views and relax near Reykholt. There are many pools with different depth and temperature, saunas and possibility to cool down in the lake just next to this hot springs.
