About Hveragerdi
A little townn the area famed for its geothermal springs. You’ll notice a number of greenhouses heated by the water from these springs, but after you get off the main road, you’ll come upon the Reykjadalur valley, which is located just outside the city.
Translated, it’s “Valley of Smoke” or “Smoking Valley,” and there’s really no shortage of smoke here.
From the parking lot there is a route about 4 km long around hot lakes and bubbling mud volcanoes. The road climbs quite steeply, but the outlook will certainly compensate for the energy spent. However, the grand finale is represented by the springing hot river at its end.
