If you are staying in Akranes, driving through or just visiting the town, you have two choices if you want to take a bath a relax in warm water. The reception of the pool is located in the local sports centre. You will easily find the entrance from the left side of the building, through the glass door. The tickets to swimming pool in Akranes are provided inside at the cashier, where you can pay with you credit card or cash.

Adress, location and contacts
Eventhough the Akranes town is not the smallest village in Iceland, you don´t have to be worry if you are trying to find the exact location. The pool you are looking for is called on map in different names, it can be – Akranslaug, Jaðarsbakkalaug or you can just see the place called Íþróttamiðstöðin Jaðarsbökkum.
You will get there, if you arrive on the main road n.51 into the town. On the first small round about turn on the second exit, to the left. Then drive until the next round about and take again left turn (last, third exit from round about). Then drive short distance to next small round about, take first exit to right and continue on the road until you see two big halls, one white, one grey. Turn to the parking to the white hall and you will see the entrance to the swimming pool area.

As we said at beggining, there are two places where you can take a bath in Akranes. Except the mentioned pool, there is also Bjarnalaug, but this one is mostly used for kids and students to train.
Guðlaug baths and hot tubs
Very close alternative to the local swimming pool in Akranes are hot tubs Guðlaug. You can find these baths literally just across the street, more close to the ocean. The prices for these baths are even lower then for the pool, so if you are looking just for a warm dip in hot tub, you might be interested in this alternative.
Guðlaug Baths is divided into three levels.
The third level is a viewing platform with stunning views of the sea and, on occasion, Reykjavik.
Underneath, on the second level, is the larger and hotter of the two pools, as well as showers and activity/equipment space.
Finally, on the lowest level, there is a shallow wading pool. Stairs connect the three levels and provide access to the beach. Gulaug Baths can be classified as a natural pool or a leisure pool. Guests can also use the changing rooms and outdoor showers.
Hvammsvík hot springs
Another alternative, you can try nearby is recently new opened place called Hvammsvík hot springs. The place is build on a base of natural hot springs in the fjord called Hvalfjordur. There is also small guesthouse nearby, where you can rent apartment just next to the ocean and you can buy there some local food in form of snacks.
