About Reykjahlíð
Reykjahlíð is a village in northeast Iceland. It is located by the lake Mýtn. 192 people live here. The geographical coordinates are 65 ° 39 ‘north latitude and 16 ° 55’ west longitude. The main ring road of Iceland passes through the village. East of the village is the volcano Námafjall.
The village was destroyed on August 27, 1729 by lava flows after the Krafla explosion, but the wooden church survived. The village was restored, the church was then rebuilt in the same place in 1876 and 1962.
