About Laugarbakki
Laugarbakki – a town in the northwest of Iceland, on the right bank of the Miðfjarðará River, near its mouth to the Miðfjörður Fjord. It is part of the municipality of Húnaþing vestra, located in the Norðurland vestra region. It is located about 7 km south of the headquarters of the municipality of Hvammstangi. National road No. 1 runs nearby. At the beginning of 2018, 57 people lived in it
The first house was built in Laugarbakki in 1933. In 1970 a large boarding school was built here, in which the hotel currently operates. The village has a shop, swimming pool and community center.
