Honest review of Efstidalur restaurant

“Efstidalur restaurant in Golden circle is one of not many restaurant, I have visited more than one time in my travels around Iceland. I come back to this place mostly because of good locations – close to Brúarfoss, on the way to Gullfoss and geysir. It has a great atmosphere and I always visit a place, when it´s not crowdy there.

The menu is a bit short, but that´s probably the only dissapointing part of Efstidalur farm. They offer a soup buffet, which I´ve never tried, but they have a good fish and steak. You can choose from 3 types of burger – I usually go for Hot springs burger, a bit spicy one. Eventhough the service is only on the bar and no waiter will come to you take and order, it does not ruin the experience.

As soon as you come to tables, you can see from inside windows just inside the barn, where are the local cows, feeding at the same time as you eat.

Every time I visit this place I also go downstairs to the small café, ice-cream area and take one with me. The vanilla or cookie flavor never dissapointed me. “

Efstidalur has been in the family for generations since around 1750. Now run by four siblings and their families, this dairy farm is now focused on tourism.
