Honest review from Thrastalundur restaurant

“Me and my girlfriend visited Thrastalundur restaurant in September 2023 on a Friday night. We came with no reservation, but restaurant had many free tables, more than occupied ones. One of the waitress sit us down and we could choose from a menu with variety meals, which I liked. We are hard to satisfied and don´t like the typical menu of Icelandic restaurants, which consist of burgers or lamb meals. They had list of pizzas, at least 5 types of burgers, 2 or 3 types of pasta, with and steaks.

We took a shrimp soup as a starter and shrimp pasta for me and pasta Alfredo with chicken for my girlfriend. Service was nice, fast, give us enough space and food came quickly. I definitely loved the shrimp soup, would really like to get a recipe for this. My pasta was fine, I didn´t love it as much as the soup, but it wasn´t bad at all. But alfredo pasta, which my girlfriend has was definitely better choice.

The prices in the restaurant are as usuall as in Icelandic restaurants, same as prices in other restaurants in Selfoss. The meals costs us with drinks around 11 000 ISK.

If I have a drive around this area, I would like to stop here, when it´s not dark outside, because the restaurant has a lovely view on the nearby mountain and river, in the summer time you can enjoy the colours of lupus, grouping on local fields.”
