Varmahlíð is a town in the north of Iceland, near the lower reaches of the Héraðsvötn River. It is part of the municipality of Skagafjörður, in the Norðurland vestra region. At the beginning of 2018 it was inhabited by 127 people. The national road No. 1 connecting Blönduós with Akureyri runs through the village.
The village is located on the eastern slope of the hill from which the name comes (isl. Varmur = “warm”, hlíð = “slope”).
Horse breeding is one of the main branches of the economy. There are many sources of hot geothermal water in the area, which are heated by nearby greenhouses with vegetables and tropical and subtropical fruits.
